
Margaret von Kaenel has a degree in Fine Art from the University of California. She has been professionally trained in the decorative arts through a variety of art and trade schools: Washington University in St. Louis, MO; Fontbonne College, St. Louis, MO; NASODA, Chicago, IL; Koch Bros Studio, St. Louis, MO; FlorenceArt, Florence, Italy and Royal Design Studio, San Diego, CA. She has also traveled to France, Italy, Morocco, and Spain for a variety of painting projects.
Margaret is a member of: International Decorative Artisans League (IDAL) having served as President; Metro Artisans Guild – the Missouri IDAL Chapter and founding president; the Saint Louis Artists Guild; Art Saint Louis, the Missouri Plein Air Painters Association and the internationally recognized group of decorative painters – SALON Forever.
Her work has been published in a variety of magazines from 2001 to 2016. They include: Walls Windows & Floors, a Woman’s Day Special; Better Homes & Garden – Midwest subscription; The Faux Finisher; The Artistic Stenciler; Artisphere and the St. Louis Ladue News.
Margaret’s fine artwork has juried into art exhibitions at 33 February; 1900 park Ave Gallery; Des Peres Hospital Art Program; Art Saint Louis, Salon Forever, Manchester Arts and the Saint Louis Artists Guild.
Since 2001, Margaret has participated in St. Louis Designer show houses for ASID, Cardinal Glennon Hospital, St. Louis Symphony, the Dove Foundation, St. Louis Homes and Lifestyles and the Ladue News.
Margaret’s portfolio specializes in murals, trompe l’oeil, fine art and some custom textural wall finishes.
